About this event

The 2019 Brimstone Slave Route Challenge took place Sunday, 31 March 2019 from 06:45, at City Hall, Darling Street in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. Distances included a 21km, 10km and 5km races.

Cape Town was built by those who were enslaved and apprentices from Indonesia and Malaysia, many Capetonians can trace their ancestors back to this time. A running event with the purpose of raising awareness about our history and heritage, Brimstone Slave Route Challenge was born.

Experienced runners can enjoy a Half Marathon or 10km Run and novices can enjoy the 10km Big Walk or 5km Fun Run / Walk. It truly encapsulates the spirit of Ubuntu! Medals for all finishers and water/snacks en-route.
