The Vitality Run Series takes place soon in Gqeberha
Discovery Vitality is excited to host the third edition of its popular Vitality Run Series in Gqeberha next month.
The BayRun will be hosted by 32Gi athletic club on Saturday, 4 October, and will start and finish at Cape Recife High School.

The Vitality Run Series was introduced in 2017, with the aim to help people improve their fitness through physical activity. The Series has over the years offered iconic events in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal and in 2023 was launched in Gqeberha. The series is open to anyone, and Vitality members earn Vitality points for participating in races.
A field of over 1500 runners powered to the finish of the BayRun with Discovery Vitality Series last year and an even bigger field is expected next month.
Jonathan Mundell, the race director from host running club, 32Gi, was thrilled with the local support of the 2024 event for all three distances, 5km, 10km and 21km.
“We had amazing support and vibe last year from the beginner walkers to those looking to improve their personal bests, and we are predicting another strong turnout this year as this event really caters to everyone,” said Mundell, who is keen to see the event grow with Discovery Vitality’s support.
Lithebe Menzeleleli, of Ikhamva athletics club, won the 21km last year in 1.05.38, and Refeloe Solomons, of Nedbank running club, scooped the title of first woman home in 1.27.28.
Melikhaya Frans won the 10km in 0.29.32, and Ntombesintu Mfunzi, of Nedbank running club, was the first woman to finish the 10km in 0.39.16.
The BayRun, which has EP Athletics league status, will offer three flat and scenic distances, 21km, 10km and a fun 5km. All finishers will receive a BayRun with Discovery Vitality Series medal.
