About this event

The 2025 Watergat 15km Challenge took place on Saturday, 12 July 2025, at Macleantown Church in Macleantown, Eastern Cape. Distances were 15km and 5km. Official results have been published by the timekeeper.

Set in the scenic farmlands of Mcleantown, just outside East London, the Watergat offers participants a refreshing escape into nature. The race follows beautiful farm roads with rolling countryside views, and its name comes from the scenic Gonubie River crossing, which marks the turning point of the route. This is a true celebration of rural running with a community spirit.

The Watergat Run is an annual event hosted by Oxford Striders, offering both seasoned and social runners the opportunity to enjoy a unique country road experience. The race is known for its picturesque routes and warm atmosphere. Its charm lies in the simplicity of the setting—dirt roads, farm air, and friendly faces.
