About this event

The 2024 Bhekizizwe Joseph Shabalala Marathon took place on Sunday, 4 February 2024, at Settler’s Park Stadium in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal. Distances were 42.2km, 21.1km and 10km. Official results have been published by the timekeeper. It was a qualifying event for both the Comrades Marathon and the Two Oceans Marathon.

The BJS Marathon celebrates the life of the incomparable Joseph Shabalala, the 5 time Grammy Award winning leader of Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Tying the event to his roots, the Marathon starts outside the Kirkintulloch Primary School where Joseph spent his formative years. With incredible Prize money on offer, this event is set to become a standard on the KZN Racing Calendar.
