The 2025 Balwin Sport Jeppe Marathon will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 06h00 at the Saheti School, Senderwood in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Distances available include 42.2km, 21.1km, 10km and 5km races....
The event is a Comrades and Two Oceans qualifier loved by many.
Attracting a field of 6000 athletes, this gem on the Central Gauteng calendar is a regular go-to for Ultra runners. This year’s event will be the final opportunity in Gauteng to qualify for the Two Oceans Ultra in March, or to get a solid qualifier for Comrades.
The marathon is a two-lapper around Bedfordview and Edenvale, starting off with atough first 10km featuring several inclines before the halfway mark, but it’s the downhill past Gillooly’s Farm in the last stretch that everyone looks forward to for some relief. Just don’t get carried away, because the last kilometre provides a nasty little uphill pull!
Race day gives athletes a little bit of everything: A tough 42km or 21km (one lap of the marathon), as well as a 10km race and a 5km fun run around Senderwood.
